The National Institute of Health (NIH) has launched its very first Android-based app dubbed “Mosquitoes Alert in Pakistan”.
The application will assist in gathering information about different mosquito species that are found in various regions, which can aid in determining the extent of burden that is related to the various mosquito species.
With the Mosquito Alert app, anyone can submit photos of mosquitoes, breeding sites or other mosquitoes. The pictures will be included in a common database that will be utilized for research, monitoring and controlling mosquitoes.
This data is crucial for the creation of a participatory alarm system that will enhance the control of mosquito’s species, decrease the chance of disease transmission , and create awareness among the general people.
