K-Electric,s Rs14.53 Per Unit Power Tariff Hike Kills People Of Karachi

K-Electric,s Rs14.53 Per Unit Power Tariff Hike Kills People Of Karachi

KARACHI: Seeking any other hike, K-Electric, the sole electricity utility in Karachi, on Tuesday submitted a request to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to hike Rs 14.53 per unit in tariff beneath gas adjustment charges.

According to the request, the strength utility has requested a big amplification of Rs 14.53/unit from April to June 2022.

In a separate request, K-Electric has sought to limit the tariff by using Rs3.47 per unit below month-to-month gasoline adjustment for the month of July.

The country wide electricity regulator will take up the KE’s pleas for a hearing on August 28.

Continuous Load Shedding: Angry Residents Attack KE Offices

Infuriated by the long-running and unannounced load shedding, inhabitants in Sachal Goth marched towards the K-Electric (KE) office and slammed the office.

According to reports the people from Sachal Goth marched towards the K-Electric (KE) office in the Madaris Chowk and attacked it.

The protestors hurled stone at KE headquarters and broke the windows of the vehicles. While en route towards the office the protesters also burned their tyres in protest of the ongoing load shedding.

Residents of Gulshan-e-Hadeed have also held an unofficial protest at the front of K-electric’s offices over extended and unannounced power outages. The protesters, comprising women and traders, chanted slogans of protest against both the state and KE.

In the meantime, Gulshan-e Hadeed police arrived on the scene and instructed the protesters to break up. But, they were unable to stop the demonstration.
