Ford is calling this truck the “first electric pickup truck in the US” due to its built-in power supply. This truck will be able to keep officers on the beat and not running out of juice.
The Ford F150 is the first all-electric pickup in the US and it is predicted to disrupt the market. The F150 has a long history of success and it’s an industry game changer.
Ford has been making vehicles for police officers for over 70 years. The first Lightning electric vehicle deliveries began this past spring.
All over the United States, Ford Pro has sold over 12,000 police vehicles to police departments. Ford outsells its competitors by more than 10%.
Ford, who touts its range of all electric vehicles, has been up against GM with its Chevy Blazer, but now Ford will have to battle GM for the title of best police chase vehicle.
Ford’s F-150 Lightning for police goes 0-60 in under 4 seconds
Ford officially announced the 2023 F-150 Lightning Pro Special Service Vehicle (SSV) in a press release this morning, sharing some of the relevant performance data to assist the US police.
Nate Oscarson, Ford Pro’s National Government Sales Manager, began with a statement:
We are proud to offer the first electric police pickup truck in the United States to local government customers. Municipal customers can leverage truck breakthrough technology to increase their productivity.
The Pro Power Onboard acts as a mobile power source to illuminate nighttime collision scenes on the highway, and electric powertrains have the potential to reduce fuel and routine maintenance costs3.
Mega Power Frunk offers additional lockable storage in addition to the custom ones. Police supplements Customers have come to expect police vehicle leaders.
The F-150 Pro SSV is designed for police officers that need a truck that can take different kinds of cars and can get up to speeds in 4 seconds or less. It’s also built for some other situations cops might have to face like checking out a crime scene or towing boats.

- Police-grade heavy-duty cloth seats with reduced bolsters to help holstered officers enter and exit EV more easily
- Built-in steel intrusion plates in front seatbacks

- Mega Power Frunk with 14.1 cubic feet of lockable cargo area including a 220-amp DC-DC power source

Law enforcement agencies who purchase the F-150 Lightning Pro SSV are also eligible for Ford Pro’s wealth of additional benefits. Details of the F-150 Lightning Police Car Chase, including the range, are expected to be released later this summer, according to the automaker.
