According to District Health Officer (DHO) Islamabad, the federal capital Islamabad has reported 96 cases of dengue fever in the last 24 hours, 53 of them from rural areas and 43 from urban areas.

After the new cases, the total number of dengue cases in Islamabad has increased to 1,657, and the dengue virus has claimed five lives, he added.

In addition, Rawalpindi has reported 98 cases of dengue fever in the last 24 hours, bringing him to 1,561 cases in the city this year. His two other people being treated at a hospital in Benazir Bhutto are in critical condition, health officials said. Dengue fever has killed two of his in Rawalpindi this season. As of Wednesday, the number of dengue cases in Punjab reached 3,869, with 229 new cases in the past 24 hours.

Khanewal, Lodhran, Sahiwal, Okara, Vihari and Kasoor each also reported cases in the last 24 hours. The Punjab health minister said he has reported 3,869 dengue infections in the state so far this year.

A total of four people have died from the virus this season. However, yesterday 215 new dengue cases were reported in Punjab.

In a statement, the Punjab health minister said in Lahore he had 105 cases of dengue virus and in Rawalpindi he had 47 mosquito-borne illnesses reported in the past 24 hours. Additionally, in Gujranwala he had 18 dengue cases reported, with Kasur, Behari and Sheikhpura each reporting his 3 cases.
