Now Babar is on the way to breaking Virat Kohli’s record and becoming the No1 to score 3000 runs in 80 innings.
Kohli became the fastest batsman to 3000 T20I runs in 2021 during England’s tour of India. He reached the mark in 81 innings. Pakistan batsman Babar Azam is currently eyeing breaking that record by scoring 61 runs during their fifth-T20I against England in Qaddafi Stadium Lahore.
Babar Azam is currently on 2,939 runs in 79 innings for Pakistan. He needs to score 61 runs in the fifth T20I to transcend Virat Kohli.
Recently during the series between Pakistan and England, Babar Azam and Rizwan made another record. They became the first pair to score 2000 runs in T20 together.
Kohli Reviews Regarding Babar Azam
India’s former captain recently hailed Babar as “the top batsman in the world across format” and said that he is the kind of player world cricket needs.
“The first interaction I had with Babar Azam was the 2019 World Cup after the game. Babar and Imad (Wasim). Imad I have known since Under-19 cricket, we have played against each other. Imad said Babar Azam wanted to have a chat.” Virat Kohli said in an interview with Star Sports.
Despite being one of the best players on the planet, Babar has always been respectful to his opponents. It is for this reason that despite being a fierce competitor, he has managed to maintain his level of respect from other players, Kohli said about Babar Azam.
