Gocycle G4 review
The Gocycle G4 is a premium folding e-bike that’s beautifully designed and a joy to ride
Gocycle‘s e-bikes are unusually innovative and striking. The bikes fold up into a stylish, easy-to-carry package for convenient portability.
With a variety of models and prices, Gocycle offers a range of options. The G4 has around 40 miles of range, the G4i has 50 miles of range, and the latest G4i+ model is slightly more expensive with predictive gear shifting for those who buy it.
Our experience testing the G4 is undeniable: it has a high price tag with fantastic design and build quality that justifies that cost.
The electric moped comes with a new G4drive motor integrated into the front hub. This will allow for more power and faster acceleration.
However, it still weighs in at 17.6kg which makes it challenging to carry with ease and is not well suited for power commuters or city-dwellers since the easy-fold design makes it appropriate for anyone who wants a bike while they are away from home.
Gocycle is a high-performing and innovative electric bike that can be charged in only three hours and offers many benefits over non-folding rivals.
Gocycle is a new company in the world of bikes and they offer a variety of powerful e-bikes. The G4 model is available at an affordable price of $4,999 / £3,999 (about AU$7,000), which also comes with front and rear lights, mudguards and even a pannier bag with integrated charger. They were easily accessible through registration on the website.
This branded two-wheeler costs $5,999 in the US and £4,999 in the UK. North America and Europe have different pricing on the same product.
All bikes can be ordered directly from www.gocycle.com(opens in a new tab) or from selected reseller outlets throughout the US, Canada, UK and the EU.
This folding bike is one of the coolest on the market and it hasn’t just been made to be like no other. It has everything made to deliver a better riding experience that an average rider would want.
The Gocycle G4 is a lightweight, sleek folding e-bike that’s easy to set up. The lighter weight of the bike saves money, and comes from using smarter materials.
You quickly notice how the bike folds up when you open the box. A central hinge is the bulk of what makes a bicycle, used for folding out to create the shape of a different kind of bike.
The handlebar stem can be folded up so that the pedals can connect. As you tighten the fastening clips, you are ready to ride.
Gocycle achieves a lightweight design while staying robust with clever design choices. Gocycle’s engineers carefully selected different materials for components that helps lower weight of the bike as well as creating a design that works better in everyday use when lifting the front wheel up over a curb.
The battery is integrated into the front of the frame, and can either be charged off or on, when opened up by simply unclipping and pulling out from the recess.
When it comes to aesthetics, these bikes are thoughtful and sleek. The 20-inch wheels offer lots of support and a minimalist look that gives the bike a high-end feel. Coasts did not miss any details when making these bikes and even the seat is wide enough to accommodate plenty of outerwear without distraction from the bike’s design.
The bike folds up on itself and it needs to be held down with a rubber, which we felt was the least reliable part of the design. The seat stays on the frame, but you can also remove it if you prefer.
Install the app on your phone before starting. This app includes instructions to help you set up your new bike and ensure it’s safe to ride, as well as a remote control button that is also located on the handlebars
On top of a motor and gear system, there’s a twist-grip control on the right-hand side of the handlebars that varies the acceleration and power.
The Pedego Electric Lime Ride has a simple interface for managing your ride. Charge and select gears with the clip-in handlebars or twist into place on the top of the front fork as you use it.
With a USB port integrated in this bike, you can recharge your phone or other device while cycling. The display shows how much power is left, trip data, such as distance and speed, and your current mode of operation.
The Gocycle G4 is still a great bike to ride on challenging routes despite not having the stiff frame structure traditional bikes have. The small nitro shock absorbing damper has helped this bike perform in rough terrain seamlessly.
Riding the Brompton bike feels great, and the front wheel gear motor made our commute much easier. The Gocycle is a perfect example of traction-controlled feedback, meaning you can enjoy it when riding over bike paths on a rainy day or on wet, newly paved roads. What’s more…the power it provides vibrates with high integrity.
There are three modes of assistance: city, eco and a custom option for more experienced or picky riders who know exactly how much assistance they want from their e-bike.
This allows you to optimize battery life and performance in an effort to get more range out of the battery.
The bike we tested was built to UK specifications and could only reach speeds of 15.5mph, but some other territories offer users more flexibility.
With the motor only staying engaged while pedaling, this bike will keep you going where you need to go. When it gets a little tough and you need a little extra power, use the boost button found on the left-hand side of the handlebars to get an increase in pedal rotations per minute. They’re also totally worth getting once the hill starts!
The twist-grip gearing system was a cool addition to the design. Plus, the motor assistance is super smooth when you pedal.
